CNN —Hundreds of armed Israeli settlers stormed a village in the occupied West Bank on Friday, setting fire to several homes and cars in one of the largest attacks by settlers this year, according to Palestinian officials. CNN —A 12-year-old Palestinian boy was shot and killed by a border police officer in Shuafat refugee camp in occupied east Jerusalem, according to hospital officials and an Israeli police spokesperson. The boy falls to the ground just as the firework launches from his hand into the sky. CNN has asked police for further evidence of the alleged disturbances they say took place in the refugee camp on Tuesday. There were no casualties among the Israeli forces who dispersed the demonstrators at the Shuafat camp, the police spokesperson said. ROME (AP) — A diver who spotted something metallic not far from Sardinia's coast has led to the discovery of tens of thousands of ancient bronze coins. The ministry didn't say exactly when the first diver caught a glimpse of something metallic just off shore Sardinia, not far from the town of Arzachena. A ministry statement estimated that there are at least about 30,000 and possibly as many as 50,000, given their collective weight. The coins were mainly found in a wide area of sand between the underwater seagrass and the beach, the ministry said. Given the location and shape of the seabed, there could be remains of ship wreckage nearby, the ministry said.

BERLIN (AP) — Germany is considering establishing short-term border controls with Poland and the Czech Republic to keep irregular migrants from entering the country, a government official said Friday. CNN —Dozens of people were injured in Tel Aviv on Saturday as hundreds of Eritrean government supporters and opponents clashed with each other and with Israeli police, authorities in Israel said. Israel’s Magen David Adom (MDA) emergency service said more than 114 people had been treated for injuries, including dozens of police officers. Israeli police intervened in the clashes in Tel Aviv. Footage on social media showed Eritrean government supporters beating anti-government protesters with clubs. "Why did we run from our country?," one protester in Tel Aviv, Hagos Gavriot, told Reuters. "At this time, large police and Border Police forces continue to operate against lawbreakers in the Tel Aviv area," an Israeli police statement said.

Jerusalem CNN —A Palestinian man was critically injured Monday after he was shot from behind by Israeli security forces in the occupied West Bank, according to an eyewitness and video from the scene. The witness said the man was unarmed and video of the incident obtained by CNN appears to show he was not carrying anything in the moments before security forces opened fire. The incident took place as clashes broke out between Palestinians and Israeli forces in the Palestinian town of Beita, in the Nablus governorate, during a raid by Israeli forces searching for “a wanted suspect,” Israel Border Police said. “One man was shot in the foot, and we attempted to rescue him from the middle of the street. Also on Monday, an Israeli woman was killed and a man was injured after being shot at while driving near the city of Hebron.

Jerusalem CNN —A Jerusalem court acquitted an Israeli border police officer of “involuntary reckless manslaughter” in the fatal shooting of Eyad al-Hallaq, an unarmed Palestinian man. The defendant was granted anonymity by the court following a request from the Israeli Border Police, according to Khaled Zabarqa, one of the lawyers for the al-Hallaq family. Zabarqa said al-Hallaq had a “special needs” document issued by Israeli National Insurance, a government entity. The victim’s mother, Rana al-Hallaq, told CNN her son didn’t understand or speak Hebrew. The acquitted officer will return to active duty, and participate in a “commander’s course,” according to a Border Police statement released Thursday.
